Howard Johnson Kamloops
One Does Not Get My Recommendation
There are two Howard Johnson Kamloops hotels: one downtown and one in Sahali. I don’t recommend the downtown Howard Johnson as it needs some serious upkeep done.
Howard Johnson Kamloops Downtown
Located at 530 Columbia Street in downtown Kamloops, with rates starting at $55 online the Howard Johnson Kamloops downtown may be in your budget. While this isn’t a high end hotel and I think it needs a serious facelift, it is one of the least expensive downtown options. The downtown location is easy walking distance to Royal Inland Hospital and all of the downtown amenities.

The downtown Howard Johnson features air conditioned rooms, free breakfast, free downtown parking, and free internet (some wireless).
Amenities Nearby
Within easy walking distance is Denny’s Family Restaurant and Starbucks Coffee. Within a longer walking distance is the downtown core which has a wide variety of restaurants and shopping. If you are needing easy access to Royal Inland Hospital the Howard Johnson is just a couple of blocks away.

My Recommendation
There are other downtown hotels in Kamloops that offer much more value for your dollar. You might want to check out the Plaza Heritage Hotel which is right in the heart of downtown Kamloops. Rates for the Plaza start at $85 per night.
Howard Johnson Kamloops Sahali
Located at 610 West Columbia Street and referred to as Howard Johnson on the Hill or Panorama Howard Johnson offers a central location for hotels in Kamloops.
With rates starting at $95 the Howard Johnson can be a good value if you’re looking for a hotel in Sahali. It is also one of the closest hotels to Thompson Rivers University if you’re attending a conference or a wedding there.
The Howard Johnson on the Hill tends to be quieter than some of the hotels right on the highway.
Howard Johnson Sahali Amenities
The Sahali Howard Johnson features an outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna, views of the city, on site restaurant, and allows pets for an extra fee. Some rooms have views and kitchenettes.

The Howard Johnson has a good (higher end) restaurant called Chapters Viewpoint and is within a bit longer walking distance of other more varied restaurants including Red Robin, Earls, A & W, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, etc. Safeway grocery store is also within easy walking distance.

My Recommendation
If a city view and walking access to amenities is important to you then I would recommend the Howard Johnson on the Hill as a good value in Sahali.
