Kamloops Airport
Everything You Need to Know
Traveling to or from Kamloops? The Kamloops airport makes traveling to Kamloops, British Columbia a snap.
There are several airlines that service the Kamloops area and provide flights to destinations worldwide.

Kamloops Airlines
There are three airlines that have regular flights to Kamloops airport. Scheduled flights to Kamloops as well as charter flights are available.
Air Canada Jazz
Connections from Kamloops are provided via Air Canada Jazz to 80 destinations in the U.S. and Canada with Star Alliance and various other Air Canada networks. Air Canada flights to Kamloops are generally through Vancouver or Calgary connections.
Flights through Vancouver generally offer better connections as there are up to seven flights to Kamloops a day from Vancouver. I’ve seen one way airline tickets to Kamloops from Vancouver from as low as $120. I would check the flight prices often as they fluctuate by as much as $500 for a Vancouver Kamloops flight. Check out aircanada.com for current rates.
West Jet
Kamloops was pretty happy when West Jet started offering flights to Kamloops Airport as they offered cheap flights to Kamloops and also caused Air Canada to offer cheaper flights. West Jet, established in 1996, is known as Canada's low fare choice – they’re the ones with the joke telling flight attendants! West Jet flies to the U.S., and to international and Canadian locations. Flights to Kamloops are generally through Calgary connections and I’ve seen one way airline tickets to Kamloops from Calgary for as low as $75. Check out westjet.com for current rates.
Central Mountain Air
Central Mountain Air, a private owned company, flies from Kamloops to Prince George. Established in 1987, this airline has bases in Calgary, Vancouver and Smithers. Central Mountain Air offers flights to Kamloops Airport through Prince George and connects through Prince George to Fort Nelson, Fort St. John, Terrace, and Kelowna. Check out flycma.com for current prices for airline tickets to Kamloops.
Pacific Coastal Airlines
As of August 1, 2009 Pacific Coastal Airlines is no longer flying through Kamloops but still offers flights from Vancouver to smaller coastal cities. For more information please see pacific-coastal.com

Other Transportation
In addition to car rentals, there are various other means of transportation including, Kami Cab, Yellow Cab, the Airporter, and BC Transit.
Taxis are generally available at the arrival of every flight to take you to and from the airport as well as any other destination you may have in mind. Downtown Kamloops is about a fifteen minute drive from the airport. If you are planning to take a taxi you might want to head outside right when your flight arrives (before getting your luggage) to claim one as there are usually only one or two that meet each flight. You can always call for another one of course but it will take at least fifteen minutes.
The Airporter meets all arriving flights and is available for shuttle service for flights arriving and departing from Kamloops Airport. Group rates are available and they have vans to accommodate small or large groups.
The public bus service for the area is BC Transit and they also provide service to the airport. The phone number is 250-314-4803.
If you’re planning to take BC Transit (our municipal bus service) you’ll want to check the schedule as they don’t run that frequently. The phone number is 376-1216. It’s route 1 – Tranquille that services the airport. More information can be found on the
BC Transit Website - Kamloops Routes.
Travel to Sun Peaks Resort
Sun-Star Shuttle Service offers shuttle service from Kamloops Airport to Sun Peaks Resort.
Their number is 250-377-8481. Their office hours are 8 – 4:30. The last time I checked their website domain had expired but they are still in operation.
Transportation to Sun Peaks one way is $43 per person on the shuttle and it's about a 45 minute drive.
Other Kamloops Airport Services
The airport now has a Bread Garden restaurant which is an improvement over the previous restaurant. They actually have pretty good food that’s available in a hurry. They are open 7 am through 8 pm. The restaurant is outside of the security check-in. The only food and beverages available after security check-in are through vending machines.
There isn’t much for shopping at our airport but there is a small corner with magazines and a small selection of books.
Changes at the Kamloops Airport
The airport in Kamloops has been under gone some serious renovations lately and is looking great! The renos included facility expansion and upgrades, as well as aesthetic improvements.
The runway was extended allowing for larger planes to land here. In addition, renovations were completed allowing for a flexible customs area that can serve as a secure customs area when international flights are expected and an additional domestic arrivals area when they're not. Upgrades were aslo completed to security and check-in services to allow an increase in the volume of travelers that can be served.
All these improvements mean that Kamloops can now receive 120 to 140 passenger international flights. We might soon be seeing incoming ski charters for Sun Peaks skiers from large cities across North America and sun charters outgoing from Kamloops to resort destinations that might include Mexico and Las Vegas (yeah for all of us living here in Kamloops!).
All of these improvements will mean a better travel experience for visitors and residents!
